Baking Industry Training College

The Baking Industry Training College (BITC) began operations in 1993 as a partnership between Prima Limited and the Productivity and Standards Board (now SPRING Singapore) to elevate Singapore's baking industry into a modern regional baking hub.

BITC also sets the standards in creative baking by imparting hands-on skills and theoretical knowledge, conducting skills-based baking workshops and offering professional consultancy services.

Fulfilling & fun experience

First time with BITC. The lesson is great with lots of hands-on. Instructor is humorous & very willing to share knowledge.

Fun, professional and useful

Quite disappointed, but macaron is pretty yummy

I'm sorry to say this, I've difficulty in understanding what the chef is talking and he is not very clear with certain instructions.

While I'm still piping out my macarons, he've already started teaching others on the making of the fillings at another table and I didn't get to watch and listen and totally have no idea what's going on.

Despite all the disappointments, the chef is encouraging. The macaron is a little sweet in my opinion, but overall it taste pretty yummy.

Not bad

Recipe for the Durain Puff is good, but the Durain Tart is not very nice.
The instructor is very attentive and clear with the explanations.
Overall, it was an enjoyable experience. :)

Fun learning baking experience

The trainer is very clear & detailed in her explanations, as well as the keys to take note in making good choux pastry i.e. correct batter consistency & correct baking temperature. It's a fun learning experience for me as a first timer. Although it's a hands on workshop, however, the baking process was done in pairs instead of individually. It would be good if all the participants can work on their own to gain better experience. Highly recommended for those who loves durians/pastry baking.

an extremely enjoyable & helpful session

the Instructor, Mr Ivan Chin, was an excellent instructor who was able, from the beginning, to put everyone in a very relaxed state. He was a very patient and extremely helpful instructor, with a very good sense of humour too! He was also so unselfish with sharing with the class, all the hints one would need to know when baking Macarons. I would definitely recommend anyone to go for his class.

The end result too was excellent. Everyone complimented us on the final product and we were so proud of our experience in this class!

A good class that imparts tips rather than skills

The instructor Mr. Low was magnanimous with useful tips on many critical points that influence the product outcome, from effect of ingredient blend ratios, to the control of temperature/heat and time at stages of dough fermentation, filling preparation, and cooking.
However, within a span of 3+ hours, there was lack of opportunity to hone one's own skills to perfect the product, e.g. the wrapping of the filling into the pau dough at the right dough-filling ratio. Regretfully, our final pau was too doughey, and many cracked.

Never thought I could bake!

It is my first time attending a baking class and I am glad that it is a fantastic session. The instructor is friendly and paid extra attention to me knowing that it is my first time in the kitchen. Also, the class is well paced and the instructions are clear. It makes baking as easy as 1, 2, 3.
