Reviews of Classes by Visual Arts Centre

Professional guidance by the instructors!

I was utterly impressed by the professional trial class provided by the Centre's instructors - they were very patient in guiding me at my own pace & the session was entirely fuss-free as I did not have to prepare any materials since it was all provided as part of the package.

Enjoyed myself thoroughly, and looking forward to continuing my class here! :)

Brief, interesting experience

It was mostly independent, I can't say I received a lot of valuable advice however I still found it a stimulating experience to engage in still-life drawing. Might work out better for people who already have some background in acting.

Intro to Batik: Enlightening but slow hard work

It was an informative and very interesting workshop. Instructor touched on history of Indonesian batik & we were given several templates to work on. Putting the wax on the handkerchief was a bit messy but fun! Cons: Would be good if there were enough tools - the wax applicator came in various sizes but not enough small size. Waste time waiting & taking turns to do the waxing.

Guided learning in a nice environment

Would say this is more of guided learning where you first try your hands at it, and then be guided on areas of improvement. Note that you won't be able to finish a still art in one lesson.

Too much students for 1 teacher

I felt that the teacher could be more attentive to each student. What I felt was that there were many students for only one teacher, and even so, the teacher would some time leave the room for some minutes. Therefore, I think there should be more involvement with each student, but for that, smaller classes would be a good solution.
I also felt that the student could not create. We were supposed to follow the teacher's criteria. Of course we are there to learn, but I think that the student should also be given some liberty to express what he wants to reflect on the canvas, related the object that is being seen.
Also, in some classes, the quality of the paint tubes was not the best. The brushes also were a bit old to be able to be more precise in the work we were performing.
Nevertheless, the staff was friendly. I just think there should be some improvement on the matters I listed above.
