Location was a bit inaccessible and the place looked a bit dilapidated BUT, there were only me and my friend so we got all the attention. He is very knowledgeable about letterpress; he explained everything in detailed and really got us very interested in the field. He had virtually everything you needed for letterpress. It was a really fun class. Hope word gets all more so people can appreciate this better.

It was an informative session as you learn the history of letterpress, followed by designing your name card and printing them one by one using the machine.

Yao Yu was extremely friendly and engaging. The lesson began with a summary of the history of letterpress, and Yao Yu does a fantastic job summarising it and supplementing his explanation with a wide range of books and pictures.

When it came to the actual typesetting, Yao Yu has a wonderful and exquisite (and very expensive) range of fonts and equipment that he gives us the liberty to take our pick and experiment. Yao Yu patiently waited as I slowly went through the fonts available and planned my design.

More than an instructor, Yao Yu is also very willing to share his experiences in the art scene, and offer advice if you ask for it.

Do come prepared with a quote in mind, or with the words you wish to print!

I loved this workshop! Yao Yu is extremely knowledgeable and very patient. His class was well structured, his workshop is beautiful and his skill is evident - YY obviously has a clear passion for what he does. I would highly recommend this class to anyone interested in typesetting and letterpress printing.
