Sigma Contemporary Dance is an independent local contemporary dance group made up of full time working adults. Sharing the belief to never stop dancing after we started working, Sigma was formed to explore and pursue contemporary dance.

Sigma won the first TRDO (The Royal Dance Off) competition in Singapore in 2011 and has since put up two sold-out black box productions,T|hitherto in 2012 and A Double Bill: Light/Shadows et Optical Delusion in 2014. Apart from creating our own productions, we also participate at local arts festivals such as the M1 CONTACT Contemporary Dance Festival and Verve Arts Festival.

Sigma After Six is an outreach programme we started in 2015. Our open classes aim to provide good contemporary dance classes for dancers and also to provide a platform for contemporary dancers to keep dancing after they graduate from school. Our Beginners’ Courses aim to reach out to non-dancers and expose them to the benefits of contemporary dance.

Through our activities, the group also hopes to encourage the growth and support of Singapore’s contemporary dance scene as well as to remind our peers that in the daily grind, you can always find time to keep doing what you love.
