He Gambled His Life's Savings For A Better Tennis Education

Julian Wong is no stranger to the Singapore tennis scene, and for the matter, neither is he stranger to the International tennis scene. Having trained and worked at tennis academies in Barcelona-Spain, Sydney- Australia, and Bangkok- Thailand, he is well-versed and equipped with the technical skills and practical know-how to make your tennis learning journey a smooth, yet vibrant one.

Surprisingly, life as a tennis player did not begin as early as most. In fact, it was a chance event that he could be at the Seniors Tennis Tour in Singapore in 2000, where he also came face to face with the veteran player Mansoor Bahrami, whom he saw and heard so much about, that ignited his interest in the game, at the late age of 16. Falling into a web of highly recommended tennis "gurus" here who yielded to be sorely inept, he gambled a huge chunk of his savings into finding good tennis education overseas. Fortunately, he found his way into the good hands and tutelege of the likes of Alejandro Tarrero, of Barcelona, Spain - former coach of WTA Pro, Conchita Martinez, and 26-time Grand Slam Winner, John Newcombe, and his son, Clint Newcombe, both of Sydney, Australia. By 18, he made the varsity team and was already playing tournaments in Sydney, Australia, and Bangkok, Thailand.

"I've always favored the underdogs- being one myself. And I shall groom many underdogs in my lifetime, starting with a 'YES' where every other person wouldn't believe in them."

Make no assumption that Julian Wong's tennis classes are only for the aspiring competitive players. In fact, Julian Wong founded the "Tennis in 5 Days", "Tour Strokes in 5 Days", highly-effective beginners' and intermediates' tennis crash-courses which were subsequently featured in a 2004 Sunday Time's issue of "Sweat!". The same two programmes earned him a nomination in the Spirit of Enterprise award that same year (2004)! With his flamboyant and eloquent persona, melded with his technical mastery of the game, he was also a featured tennis coach in Cleo Magazine Singapore, as well as the Cleo Eligible Bachelors 2004.

Outside of tennis, he holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Business Management & Human Resource from University of Murdoch, Australia, and a Diploma in Mass Communications from Ngee Ann Polytechnic and carries active interests in Forex Trading and Internet Marketing. Julian Wong is also seasoned event emcee, and singer, previously also a STOMP Starblogger at www.stomp.com.sg, and most recently named Mr Clementi in the Mister Singapore 2009 Pageant.

Effectively bilingual in English and Mandarin too, look forward to lively comment and fun, yet useful situational analogies to help your game!
