The Language Academy (TLA) is formed by a group of language schools from the republic of Singapore. Leveraging on our collective resources and experience, we are in a better position to meet the rising demand to learn a foreign language, fueled in part by the changing population profile of Singapore. Presently, out of the 5 million population, about a million are non-residents and expatriates. Changi Airport alone caters to more than 42 million passengers per year. There is therefore an increasing need to interact across different nationalities. Whilst English and Mandarin are widely used in Singapore, the ability to communicate in a third language is often viewed an added advantage, be it for business or leisure.

The convenience of travel, affordability and an innate interest to get to know the world at large has also contributed to the ever growing pool of Singaporean travelers. In fact, Singaporeans made more than 8 million trips in 2013 by air and sea. This is a jump of more than 85%, compared to 2001. The ability to communicate in another language will facilitate and enrich the experiences of the modern day traveler. It enables one to understand and appreciate more about different cultures, gain deeper insights and builds trust with the locals. Proficiency in different languages has become an indispensable skill, both to get ahead in business or/and have a more meaningful interaction across different nationalities.

TLA offers a number of language courses, focusing on conversational skills. There are varying proficiency levels (Beginners, Intermediate or Advanced). Each level consists of typically 20 hours of face-to-face instruction. All teachers deployed are highly experienced in adult teaching methodologies.

As part our own continual improvement, TLA also embarks on research in linguistic teaching and its application.
