Gourmet with Sarab


Passionate home cook turned celebrity chef Sarab Kapoor is the star of the TV cooking series entitled ‘Cook Love Eat with Sarab’, the author of two cookbooks, and a sought-after cooking instructor and F&B consultant.

As a child growing up in Mumbai, Sarab was enthralled by the sights, sounds and scents of cooking in her mother’s kitchen. As a young bride in Jakarta, she soon mastered the local cuisine and embarked on an odyssey that continues to this day.

Upon moving to Singapore, where she has resided for thirty years, Sarab travelled extensively with her late businessman husband, While others collected souvenirs, Sarab collected recipes. Her personal repertoire is the result of countless intrepid detours ‘off the eaten track’ and into the homes of virtual strangers. Nothing excites her more than the prospect of sampling true home cooking – refined over generations and infused with love.

Though Sarab’s recipes span all the cuisines of the world, from fine dining classics to street food, her most frequently requested dishes are Indian, Indonesian and Thai. When pressed to name a signature style, Sarab cites ‘creative vegetarian cooking’ as both her personal specialty and favourite. She blithely mixes and matches ingredients and influences from diverse cuisines to create dishes that surprise and delight the palate. Her dishes are true fusion – never con-fusion!

An advocate of ‘eyeball measurements’ and improvisation, Sarab believes that cooking should be a fun and happy experience. Her mantra says it all: ’When food is cooked with love, served with love and eaten with love, it not only nourishes the body but also the soul.’
